OCEANO GUITARIST INTERVIEWED ON METALSUCKS

Over 2 weeks ago, the illustrious website known to many as MetalSucks fired writer Gary Suarez over his controversial and overwhelmingly positive review of OCEANO's debut album, DEPTHS. In it, Suarez deemed the Billboard Heatseekers-charting debut "irreproachable." and gave it the outstanding score of 5/5.

After a show of force by the MetalSucks community as well as several members of OCEANO and their management, Gary Suarez was let back onto the site last Friday as a special guest editor for the day. One of the first pieces he posted upon his return to the site was an in depth interview with OCEANO guitarist, Andrew Mikhail. In it, he talks about OCEANO's relationship with WHITECHAPEL, his opinion on downloading and his response to OCEANO's "deathcore" subgenre tag:

"We're very happy with the results from "Depths" this year. For a debut album it has exceeded our expectations and couldn't be more happier. Not much to say there, but music wise, I'd classify oceano as death metal music with a hardcore mentality. We play death metal influenced music with the passion that you only get from hardcore music and performance. But, for convenience sake we've come to terms with the term "deathcore" when being described on print or such. I'd just consider us metal for even more convenience! (Insert metal elitist comments below, because we SUPPOSEDLY "don't know what REAL metal is" huh)"

That same day, the fan favorite ex-GOD FORBID guitarist, Dallas Coyle glowingly praised OCEANO in his regular feature, "The Hard R":

"This is a band that should be listened to in the context of their full album. The video song "District Of Misery" has some very cool things going on melodically. Speaking of brutal vocals, who ever this dude is, it sounds like he's gargling fucking Brillo pads while having some sort of bacterial infection after eating some dirty whore's ass for a week. Brutal. If you disagree, check out "A Mandatory Sacrifice" and listen to his vocal at 3:28. God. Damn. Brutal."
