SSS Rip it up!

Earache’s new signings SSS rip it up!

Liverpool thrashers SSS narrowly avoided a “ Nautical Disaster” last week when playing a gig on the “daffodil”* Ferry boat on the Mersey for Channel 4 with “Hot club de Paris” and “Go Faster”
According to one review
“After a performance by hardcore outfit SSS, it is believed that various stabilizing bollards on the ships hull were cracked and ruptured. Despite efforts from the crew to steer the ship to land, control over the rudder could not be regained and the ship went down one mile from the shore.”

Front man Foxy comments:
“The fact that we never soundchecked and we were sanwhiched between two indy bands was great.
noone realy knew what to expect.
especially channel 4 who i thort wer going to go flying as they wer in the pit with expensive cameras filming
ther was a line of these indy, arty types up front, expecting more of what they love
broomo fires up his axe and the SSS goons that wer onboard donned ski masks
i could see them bobbing up and down behind the front line- i just laffed
we fired everything up. shouted "lets go!", then the front line got scatterd like sticks in the wind
gig was mega!!”

The programme, due to air a week Friday. Meanwhile catch SSS in this week’s Kerrang! Magazine where they recently hung out in a scrap yard to get some photos “thats all it was for really. fotos. we got eased from loads. was going to backheal us again but i worked me magic and we wer in” says Foxy “we wanted some real heavy metal.....endid up with clapped out rusty scrap metal. it says a lot........”
See our thrashers pose for photos in the attached pictures and check out this week’s Kerrang for more SSS!

EVILE WRAP UP SEVERE TORTURE TOUR AND GEAR UP TO RECORD EARACHE DEBUT

EVILE WRAP UP SEVERE TORTURE TOUR AND GEAR UP TO RECORD EARACHE DEBUT

Riding the thrash lightning to stardom, EVILE have just wrapped up and extensive UK tour with death metallers SEVERE TORTURE and DESECRATION. Recounting their tour experience on a recent MySpace blog EVILE declare, “Overall we had a fucking great time. Want to say cheers to Severe Torture and Desecration.” EVILE humorously note a day of the tour where they encounter a coven of “emos,” citing that  “the streets were swarming with people who can only see out of one eye (out of choice). We came upon this take away called "Salt & Pepper," it was also swarming with…..well, Emos.” Breaking away from the emo nemesis, EVILE wrapped up the tour at The Soundhaus in Glasgow, stirring up the pit and moshing with Dennis of SEVERE TORTURE! Check out more accounts on their MySpace blog at:    http://blog.myspace.com/evileuk
EVILE will be entering the studio in May to record their Earache debut album, "Enter the Grave" at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen with legendary thrash  producer, Flemming Rasmussen. Rasmussen has produced three thrash classics from Metallica - Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, and “...And Justice for All” - as well as material for MORBID ANGEL and many other legendary extreme acts! “Enter the Grave” is scheduled for a September 2007 release date.

Thrash kings Municipal Waste in the studio with Zeuss

Thrash kings Municipal Waste in the studio with Zeuss

Richmond's thrash monsters Municipal Waste are currently in Planet Z studios in Philadelphia working on their new album (as yet untitled) to be released on Earache records on June 11th 2007
Tony Foresta Municipal Waste’s Front man had this to report from the studio:
"We're at Zeuss' studio, its super laid back and we're having a good time. We've recorded the drum tracks and started on the guitar today. We've been here 4 days and it's stupid chill. Ryan's in the other room tracking and we're playing video games. Zeuss has got a good sound so far, we get more and more excited each day about this album..."
Badass bassist Landphil states:
I am very excited, I feel like the new material is the best stuff we have ever written! We are very proud of how all the songs have turned out and feel very confident that it will make you want to circle pit in your living room.”

Biomechanical update from Three inches of Blood tour

Jamie Hunt, admired guitarist of Biomechanical said the tour so far has been "pure annihilation" and he's looking forward to getting to London for "loads of crazy muthafuckers".

Loads of screaming vocals and widdly guitar solos all over the place!” He continues “This tour is also the last time we will be playing Painkiller live we feel that we've played tribute to the track now, and it's time to move on to new things...”

Akercocke proclaim the imminent arrival of Antichrist

Akercocke proclaim the imminent arrival of Antichrist

British masterful dark lords Akercocke proclaim the title of their
forthcoming album to be "Antichrist". Released on Earache records on May
28th 2007 the heavy and sinister foursome had this to say on the album's
imminent arrival:
"The concept of Antichrist is wonderfully rich. It represents a supreme
opposite. The epithet of the great antagonist provided  a wonderful
metaphoric framework within which to work.  We have strived to make elements
of the recording  as evil as possible. Creating atmospheres that are
deliberately uncomfortable. Spurred on by a rage enhanced by the complete
disgust with our recent history, we didn't have to dig very deeply to find the malice and rancour sufficient to
evoke the spirit of violent antithesis. Antichrist is the perfect banner for
a collection of songs that are tales of opposition, sanguinary lust and the
axiom of our raison d'etre."
For a taster of these tales of opposition see Akercocke at these two very
special shows:

New Napalm Death Videos Of Classic Early Tracks

New Napalm Death Videos Of Classic Early Tracks

Two brand new music videos for the tracks ŒYou Suffer¹ and ŒThe Kill¹ have
been created to further celebrate 20 years of Napalm Death¹s seminal
grindcore release ŒScum¹.

A promo video was never made at the time the album was originally released,
these visual explosions are unique representations of hyper speed tracks.

With the creation of the ŒYou Suffer¹ video Earache have again broken a
world record - the shortest music video ever!
Lasting a mere 1 second in length the 'You suffer' video takes the crown
from Brutal Truth who currently hold that record with their ŒCollateral
Damage¹ video at just over 2 seconds in length.

Check out both videos on Youtube at these locations:

You Suffer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Z1IGjr2cT0

The Kill:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZC7-k3Z4vJU

Also to celebrate this momentous occasion the ŒScum¹ album will be reissued
along with a 45 minute in depth documentary about the era and making of
Scum. Original member Mick Harris recalls the early days of Napalm Death and
re-visits the pivotal places in the history of the 'Scum' recording - Rich
Bitch Studios, The Mermaid and old rehearsal spaces. Due to be released on
the 19th of March.

Check a trailer for the documentary here:

WITH PASSION WRAP UP PRODUCTION ON VIDEO FOR "PALE HORSES RIDE"

WITH PASSION WRAP UP PRODUCTION ON VIDEO FOR
"PALE HORSES RIDE"

Valiant, raw emotion bleeds from every musical pore of WITH PASSION’S latest Earache release, “What We See When We Shut Our Eyes,” fostering a comfortable balance of musical excellence and heart-felt sentiment. WITH PASSION wrapped up filming on a video for “Pale Horses Ride,” the first single from “What We See When We Shut Our Eyes” displaying al of these gut-wrenching characteristics. Filmed in a dimly lit garage setting, WITH PASSION stay close to their underground roots and visually portray vibrant portrait of their sought after live shows. Directed by Scott Cramer, the video recounts horrific scenes interwoven with shots of WITH PASSION performing in a sparsely lit area – piecing together atmospheres that link the song, as well as the album together. WITH PASSION’S “What We See When We Shut Our Eyes” is now available on the US and UK Earache web store, including the video track &ld quo;Pale Horses Ride” ad well as 9 additional technical masterpieces! Also, check out WITH PASSION on the road with ISCARIOT and ARCHITECT this spring – check out www.myspace.com/withpassion for venue details!

MORTIIS - advance tracks from 'Some Kind of Heroin' available

MORTIIS - advance tracks from 'Some Kind of Heroin' available

Mortiis has made a selection of advance tracks from the upcoming remix album
'Some Kind of Heroin' available via the band's dedicated Myspace page
http://www.myspace.com/somekindofheroin

The album, which features tracks from 'The Grudge' reconstructed by a number
of artists including The Kovenant, PIG, Funker Vogt, In The Nursery, Girls
Under Glass and more, will see a European release on April 16.

Commenting on the remixed material, Mortiis described the thought process
behind 'Some Kind of Heroin':

"I had remixed several of these artists for their releases earlier so it
was really only a matter of bringing out the baseball bat and start
yelling "payback time!" - others I would contact direct and work out
Deals with. This album mostly came together through mutual contacts, sending
Outemails or calling up and asking if they wanted to be part of it. Bands
like Girls Under Glass and Gothminister I had met and am friends with
So we knew that would work out great."

The streaming advance tracks provide a sense of the diversity the album
offers, and give fans a chance to check out other artists take on the
Mortiis sound long before the album goes on sale.

Mortiis is on tour with Deathstars around Europe in April.

EARACHE RECORDS PROUDLY ANNOUNCES THE SIGNING OF BRITISH THRASHERS, SHORT SHARP SHOCK (SSS)

EARACHE RECORDS PROUDLY ANNOUNCES THE SIGNING OF BRITISH THRASHERS, SHORT SHARP SHOCK (SSS)

Ferociously ear splitting, SHORT SHARP SHOCK (most commonly known as SSS), are now part of Earache’s prestigious roster! Rising up from the musical trenches of Liverpool, SSS debuted a raging 6 song demo in October 2005, possessing the tenacity and underground sentiment once coveted by legendary acts S.O.D and Metallica. Oozing with driving momentum, SSS possess the underground heart of early NY hardcore bands, spawning optimal hybrid thrash prowess that is destined to uproot the revival and throw any fan into a tailspin! In late 2006 SSS released a 16 song shocker through Dead and Gone Records, receiving elite critical acclaim and sticking a spotlight on SSS’s riveting underground live shows. Receiving 3 K’s from Kerrang (January 2007 issue), SSS has been noted by Kerrang as “taking us back to a time when all that mattered were riffs and blast beats” - delivering the bricks and mortar of warranted angst-ridden THRASH! SS S will re-issue their self titled through Earache Records and are gearing up to take real thrash to the next level, touring the UK and securing plans to expand throughout Europe. SSS embodies the meaning of their namesake, conjuring songs and live shows that that leave you in Short, Sharp, Shock!

WITH PASSION SET TO FILM MUSIC VIDEO FOR "PALE HORSES RIDE"

WITH PASSION SET TO FILM MUSIC VIDEO FOR "PALE HORSES RIDE"

Sacramento is home to lush farmland, thick fog, and metal’s brightest hope – WITH PASSION! Tightening up their tour belts, WITH PASSION are set to hit the road with fellow tech-metallers ISCARIOT and ARCHITECT, conducting a comprehensive national tour. With plans to follow up in May with full support of VITAL REMAINS and LIGHT THIS CITY, WITH PASSION are making calculated strides to bring “What We See When We Shut Our Eyes” to a broad audience of metal savants. On Sunday, March 4th, WITH PASSION will be filming live material for a music video of their first single, “Pale Horses Ride.” Planned as dark and evocative, the shoot will capture the band’s live performance coupled with a horror themed storyline that is sure to accentuate the eerie sentiment of the song. WITH PASSION will be releasing their sophomore Earache release, “What We See When We Shut Our Eyes” on May 8th, containing 10 blistering, technically inclined pieces that have been regarded as producing an ”otherworldly atmosphere” by TheApparatus.com.  Details on a release date for the video will be announced soon! Check out WITH PASSION on the road with ISCARIOT and ARCHITECT this Spring, and pick up “What We See When We Shut Our Eyes” on May 8th!

Earache records sign THRASH band SSS!

Earache have signed Liverpool THRASH band  SSS a.k.a. Short Sharp Shock

Liverpool's SSS play Thrash in the original sense of the word. They play thrash metal, and they play it well. A bastard spawn of S.O.D + “Kill Em All” era Metallica laced with enough power, riffs and licks to sink a battleship + can only mean one thing.....mayhem!

>From a recent interview with Stolen Youth fanzine:
Stolen Youth: What's the best part of being in a thrash band?
FOXY: The music, it breaks down barriers of all kinds. Don't know why or how, what with today's musical tastes of glitz and glam and watered down crap. Maybe thrash is such an old dinosaur that people have forgotten it and now its new once more. It takes people by surprise when we play. Get 'em all up front , make 'em laugh, reel them in...then let rip with the truth and dish the dirt.

>From an initial 6 song demo in May 2005, SSS toured the UK in Oct 05 with fellow Scouse bands WALK the PLANK and DOWN & OUTs. Live, Broomo is unleashed on guitar, Dave lets rip on drums with Magill possessed on bass, all fronted with an enormous ‘fuck you’ attitude, led by  Foxy- the most obnoxious frontman in the UK. Daily carnage ensued on the "Our Day Out" tour and later extensive Euro tour (Oct 06).

SSS  followed up their demo with a 7” wax offering, featuring 4 brand new songs
-CDC, Bath Night, Thrash with a small Moustache & Black Night White Light (the latter  an ode to the fallen Thrash titan, Cliff Burton)

The close of 2006 saw the release of Short Sharp Shock- the debut 16 track CD & 12” wax, limited to 1000 copies on Dead & Gone – the bands crossover-thrashin / double kickin' / body slammin' / fist bangin’ mania went down a storm immediately with fans and critics alike.

In Feb 2007 the band inked with Earache Records..Plans for 2007 include re- issuing the SSS debut, with bonus material....stand by for more THRASH! More mayhem!....and  plenty of shows in your shitty town soon!!!!!!

....stay tuned for the Mersey Thrashers next move!!

The Urkraft Tour Diary
February 27th
Updating ya´ll from the road...

Finally some network... This seems to be a total foreign word on most venues...Well, here we go...

Day 2 - 23.02.07
We drove all morning to get to Irun and most of the day too… The venue “Tunk” was a lot smaller than the night before and reminded more of a café, but when the show started it was packed and very intense. And hot as hell!
All bands shared backstage – which was kind of an experience in itself. It was so dusty that you had to be careful to sit down slowly in the couch to avoid the air turning grey. After a few hours your throat and eyes were itchy and red… On top of that the toilet was placed in the other end of the venue – through the crowd and the entrance… So we were closed off and if you had to go – that was it. No going back before after the show was over. Really not good when you are hammering beers and booze!

After CC´s show we packed up and just wanted to get out of the city to lay some freeway behind us. The best drive is at night… We got the whole road to ourselves, but you need to put back a lot of miles before your eyes start to get itchy and you see pink elephants waving their ears in the side of the road! Important to be sure we make the get-in the day after. So far – no problem. Everybody packed their gear in no time and we were ready to go within minutes, except our sound engineer Daniel was missing. Mikael found him in the bar – wasted and spitting God knows what kind of words in some girl’s ear. When we finally got him on the bus – me shouting and flipping out – he was angry and yelling because the girl he had been talking to for several hours, just told him that her boyfriend was standing right behind them and that she had a 12 year old son… Hahaha… What was he counting on anyway???
Anyway – great gig, lots of people and thanx to Daniel for a great sound. This night Eg had to play the keyboard from the sound-pit up on the balcony up over across the stage. So he is the only one who have actually both seen and played an Urkraft show at the same time!

Our bus is starting to smell a little used…

Mester

Day 3 - 24.02.07
This was a fucking long drive – 1000 k’s and no sleep for the designated drivers….buh huu! However Spain is a nice one to drive through and we still enjoy burning diesel and rubber…! Entering Portugal where baking sun burns the naked rocks makes you wonder why our Viking forefathers didn’t flee the cold north centuries ago… We enjoy it!! Copenhagen is still snowy and cold as… well, not hell, but… Hell compared to these sunny areas.
The venue - sorry, can’t remember the name of it – was really cool! One huge room with the biggest stage so far! When we got on stage after “Disavowed” the venue was crowded and really hot and boiling. We kicked it off for only half an hour – we spend too much time shifting around – but the Portuguese people sure can dance!! We gave it everything we possible had in us and with both a top floor and a lower stage part measuring 8-10 meters, we got the chance to stretch our legs! And the sound in this venue was ripping people’s ears off… when CC came on stage especially. A few beers later and some talks, we got back on the road… Thank you Redbull and Gevalia.
Mester

Day 4 - 25.02.07
Madrid!!! The venue – Sala Heineken - our GPS didn’t want to cooperate, so we had to be creative – is placed at a location without any possible parking. Sucks! CC could leave their trailer, but had to move the nightliner and we started out by making our own parking lot right next to the back entrance of the venue! Right on the top end of a roundabout… This worked fine for a few hours, but this parking officer started yelling in Spanish – something about policia and waiving his mobile phone… There was no way he would ever understand that we just needed to unload the van and actually was too tired to even start a discussion with him. It got really exiting when Disavowed drove right in behind us – towards the outgoing traffic.. Hahaha… Laugh of the day! Finally we agreed to move the vans and found a parking house under the street as near to the venue as possible. Disavowed went straight down – the sign said 3.50 – but that was only the way to the parking spaces. Inside there were only room for normal cars. Sucks! Again! And then everything went wrong. We had to turn the vans around – and I don’t know what went wrong. The other guys got stuck with their van between a concrete wall and a pile. I must admit that Birk and I couldn’t stop laughing after a few minutes. It looked really cartoonish even though I know it’s not funny, but mostly because I took the same trip without any problems at all right after.
T.Birk

Day 5 - 26.02.07
Once again a 650 km drive and siesta before the next gig – this time in Barcelona, the city with east pointing beaches and erected palm trees saluting us after the long drive through Spanish desert. People appear to take it easy down here and still there’s a fucked up traffic situation that makes hands sweaty and hearts pounding….damn! We arrived hours earlier than the get in and had plenty of time to act like tourists…yelling in the streets, eating French fries and taking pictures of the quite impressing city architecture and each other acting stupid. Places seen: the beach, the burger bar, the giant dildo building, some bars, toilets without seats (French people don’t like getting too comfortable!!!) and hot chicks….sound guy Daniel is getting crazy with all the girls and starts to point his compass in almost every direction….still he didn’t catch anything but a damn headache! The venue Mephisto is pretty small and the stage lacked nothing but space…haha! We had some sound tech problems when taking over the
crowd after Disavowed and had to cut a few tracks out of the set – but what the hell, we still kicked ass and the 400 dedicated listeners did the same…they don’t give a fuck if its a Monday night and still 4 days of tiring work waiting ahead! Any recommendations!?...well, invite your mates, girlfriend or whatever you prefer to Spain where beers come in huge bottles, coffee needs to be cut with a knife, steaks are cheap and squid will give a delicious memory of the Spanish cousin….hahaha (drummer Mikael would definitely have preferred fries and bloody meat!). Thomas had his amount of alchohol – which obviously is not much - hammered for a few hours, went out like a light and jumped out the bus in panic the next morning around 5 – ended up emptying his stomach right outside the bus… I woke him up at 8 and handed him the car keys.. You turn sucker… Next stop France……!!
